CREATING A .PLT FILE FROM AUTOCAD (versions 2000 through 2007) FOR THE SELBY’S XEROX AND KIP WIDE FORMAT PRITNERS

 

 

1.                   First, log onto www.selbys.com , then

2.                   Click on the left hand tab called “Uploading and Downloading”, then

3.                   Under the “Directory” pull down tab select “Current Drivers”, then

4.                   Enter under “Password”   Call for password 800-548-7887   ,then

5.                   Select the proper KIP or Xerox driver that matches your AutoCAD version, or select the KIP or Xerox Windows Driver.zip folder and download to your computer.  Either option should work.

6.                   ***Remember to extract your ZIP file once you have downloaded it!

7.                   Open AutoCAD

8.                   Click on the File tab and open “Plotter Manager

9.                   In this folder click on “Add-A-Plotter Wizard

10.               Follow the instructions given on each page by clicking:

a.       Next” on the  Add Plotter - Introduction Page, then

b.       My Computer”  on the Add Plotter – Begin Page and click Next, then

c.       Under the Add Plotter – Plotter Model Page select “Have Disk” and go to the HDI (AutoCAD Driver) file you just downloaded.  Select “Open”, then, 

d.       Under Add Plotter – Import Pcp or Pc2 click “Next”, then

e.       Under Add Plotter – Ports select “Plot to File” and click “Next”, then

f.         Under Add Plotter – Plotter Name give you Printer a name and click “Next”, then

g.       Under Add Plotter – Finish select “Finish”.

 

****  If you choose to install the GDI (Windows Driver), follow this procedure.  

1)   Extract the GDI ZIP file

2)       Go to START menu, then CONTROL PANEL, then PRINTERS & FAXES, then click ADD A PRINTER on the left hand side.

3)       Follow the ADD PRINTER WIZARD by:

a.       Clicking NEXT, then

b.       Select LOCAL PRINTER and click NEXT, then

c.       Select USE THE FOLLOWING PORT and select LPT1, and click NEXT, then

d.       Select HAVE DISK and browse to you GDI file and click NEXT, then

e.       Give your PRINTER a name and set it as your default printer if so desired, then click NEXT, then

f.         PRINT A TEST PAGE if desired, then

g.       Click FINISH

 

 

Now you should have this new printer as an available printer in AutoCAD and you can print to it to create you .PLT files.  Please make sure you check Plot to File on the print screen once you select the new printer.  Once you hit print, you will be asked to direct the file to a given directory or folder for the .PLT file to be printed to.
